School objectives

Some diseases of particular anatomic districts are not adequately treated by systemic drug administration, mainly because of the difficulty to reach the district itself. Local drug delivery methods are currently developed to treat more efficiently pathologies of inner ear, eyes, SNC, and to target drugs to tumors. A wide range of drug delivery systems or devices were evaluated in research and clinic over the last decade for local drug delivery.

The school will cover all the topics related to Local Drug Delivery, including: drug targeting, topical administration, in situ forming systems. The regulatory aspects will also be considered.
